March 3, 2026 Special Elections

Three (3) separate jurisdictions within Johnson County, Kansas have taken action to hold a special mail ballot election on March 3, 2026.

City of Edgerton

Resolution No. 11-13-25C

The City of Edgerton, Kansas governing body passed Resolution No. 11-13-25C on November 13, 2025 calling for a special mail ballot election to be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Mail Ballot Election

All City of Edgerton, Kansas voters who are registered in an active status, at least 30-days prior to the election, will automatically receive a ballot in the mail starting on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Question

Shall the City of Edgerton, Kansas (“City”) be authorized to levy a one percent (1%) special purpose City Sales Tax within the City, and to use the revenue from the tax, in whole or in part, with any other funds: 

(a)    to fund stormwater infrastructure improvements including the repairing, rebuilding, rehabilitating, upgrading, constructing and improving stormwater infrastructure including structures, pipes, facilities and other adjacent stormwater improvement needs;

(b)    to fund street infrastructure improvements including the repairing, rebuilding, upgrading, constructing, and improving streets, curb and gutters, sidewalks, bridges, streetlights and other adjacent City infrastructure; 

(c)    to fund all things related to and necessary to construct and finance such projects including bonds and other obligations;

Provided that such tax shall take effect October 1, 2026, and such tax will expire ten (10) years later on September 30, 2036.

De Soto U.S.D. 232

Resolution

The Board of Education of Unified School District 232 passed on December 1, 2025 a resolution authorizing and providing for the calling of a bond election in Unified School District No. 232, Johnson County, Kansas (De Soto), for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the district the question of issuing general obligation bonds of the district; authorizing the application to the State Board of Education for the authority to call said bond election and for capital improvement state aid; and providing for the giving of notice of said bond election.

Mail Ballot Election

All Unified School District 232 (De Soto) voters who are registered in an active status, at least 30-days prior to the election, will automatically receive a ballot in the mail starting on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Question

Shall the following be adopted?

Shall Unified School District No. 232, Johnson County, Kansas (De Soto), issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $99,850,000, to purchase and improve sites and acquire, construct, equip, furnish, repair, remodel and make additions to buildings used for school district purposes, including safety and security and technology improvements, and all necessary improvements related thereto in the District, and to pay related fees and expenses; all pursuant to the provisions of K.S.A. 10-101 et seq.; K.S.A. 25-431 et seq.; K.S.A. 25-2018(f); K.S.A. 72-5457; and K.S.A. 72-5458 et seq.?

Olathe U.S.D. 233

Resolution

The Board of Education of Unified School District 233 passed on November 6, 2025 a resolution authorizing and providing for the calling of a bond election in Unified School District No. 233, Johnson County, Kansas (Olathe), for the purpose of submitting to the qualified electors of the district the question of issuing general obligation bonds of the district; authorizing the application to the State Board of Education for the authority to call said bond election and for capital improvement state aid; and providing for the giving of notice of said bond election.

All Unified School District 233 (Olathe) voters who are registered in an active status, at least 30-days prior to the election, will automatically receive a ballot in the mail starting on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Question

Shall the following be adopted?

Shall Unified School District No. 233, Johnson County, Kansas (Olathe), issue general obligation bonds in an amount not to exceed $389,000,000, to purchase and improve sites and acquire, construct, equip, furnish, repair, remodel and make additions to buildings used for school district purposes, including acquisition of new and upgraded computer and communications technology, and all necessary improvements related thereto in the District, and to pay related fees and expenses; all pursuant to the provisions of K.S.A. 10-101 et seq.; K.S.A. 25-431 et seq.; K.S.A. 25-2018(f); K.S.A. 72-5457; and K.S.A. 72-5458 et seq.?
