Overseas - Military - Federal Service Voters

Register to Vote

To register, complete the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). Acrobat Reader may be required to view this application. If you are unable to access this form, please email or call our office at (913) 782-3441 and we will mail or fax the application to you.

Or, you may obtain the Standard Form 76 - Registration and Absentee Ballot Request, Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) - from the U. S. Embassy or your Commanding Officer.

Kansas does not require that the form be notarized or witnessed.

The completed form may be returned by mail or by fax. Mail to Johnson County Election Office at 2101 East Kansas City Road, Olathe, KS 66061. Fax to Johnson County Election Office at (913) 791-1753.

The application must be received by the Election Office no later than 14 days prior to each election. For a current listing of election dates, view the election calendars (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).

Note: The Application for an Advance Voting Ballot posted on this website does not apply to Federal Service Voters. Please do not submit this application.

Note: To qualify for a federal service ballot to be mailed 45 days in advance, the Federal Post Card Application is the only application permitted.


Separate Application for each Election

The Standard Form 76 is valid for two years. The form will update your voter registration record and allow you to receive ballots for the next two election years.


Mailing your Ballot

Federal Service ballots are mailed approximately 45 days prior to Election Day.

If you have not received your ballot two weeks before the election, contact our staff representative.

Deadline for our office to mail a ballot is the Friday before each election.


Returning your Ballot

You may mail your ballot to the Johnson County Election Office in the envelope provided. Your ballot must be received by the Election Office no later than 7:00 p.m. on Election Day in order to be counted.

You may fax your ballot by following the instructions enclosed in your ballot. If faxing the ballot, the original should be mailed promptly to the Johnson County Election Office.

To confirm that the Election Office received your faxed ballot, contact our staff representative.
