DeSoto

The City of DeSoto is a Third Class City. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). DeSoto is served by a Mayor and 5 Council Members At-Large. All are elected to 4 year terms. The Mayor and 2 Council Members At-Large are elected in 1997, and 3 Council Members At-Large will be elected in 1999.

Mayor (4 year term) - PRIMARY ELECTION - Vote for One

Edgerton

The City of Edgerton is a Third Class City. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Edgerton is served by a Mayor and 5 Council Members At-Large. All are elected to 4 year terms. The Mayor and 2 Council Members At-Large are elected in 1997, and 3 Council Members At-Large will be elected in 1999.

Fairway

The City of Fairway is a Second Class City with four wards. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Fairway is served by a Mayor and 8 Council Members, two from each ward. The City of Lenexa is a First Class City with four wards. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Lenexa is served by a Mayor and 8 Council Members, two from each ward. All are elected to 4 year terms. Four Council Members are elected in 1997, and the Mayor and 4 Council Members will be elected in 1999.

Mission

The City of Mission is a Second Class City with four wards. An election is held every year. Mission is served by a Mayor and 8 Council Members, two from each ward. All are elected to 2 year terms. The Mayor and 4 Council Members are elected in 1997, and 4 Council Members will be elected in 1998.

Olathe

The City of Olathe is a First Class City with four wards. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Olathe is served by a Mayor and 6 Council Members (one from each ward plus two at-large members). The Mayor and the 4 Council Members representing wards are elected to 2 year terms. The 2 Council Members At-Large are elected to 4 year terms. The Mayor, 4 Council Members, and 1 Council Member At-Large are elected in 1997, and the Mayor, 4 Council Members, and 1 Council Member At-Large will be elected in 1999.

Roeland Park

The City of Roeland Park is a Second Class City with four wards. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Roeland Park is served by a Mayor, 8 Council Members and a Municipal Judge. All are elected to 4 year terms. The Mayor, 4 Council Members and the Municipal Judge are elected in 1997. Four Council Members will be elected in 1999.

Blue Valley School District - #229

The Blue Valley School District is served by 7 Board Members representing six district positions plus one member at-large position. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Board Members are elected to 4 year terms. Board Member Positions 4, 5, and 6 will be elected in 1997, and Board Member Positions 1, 2, 3, and 7 (At-Large) will be elected in 1999.

If a Primary Election is held, voters vote only for the board member position in which they live and the at-large position. In the General Election, voters vote for all positions.

Board Member - Position 6 - (4 year term) - PRIMARY ELECTION - Vote for One

Shawnee Mission School District - #512

The Shawnee Mission School District is served by 7 Board Members representing the five district area positions plus two at-large positions. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Board Members are elected to 4 year terms. Board Member Positions 2, 4, and 6 (At-Large) are elected in 1997, and Board Member Positions 1, 3, 5, and 7 (At-Large) will be elected in 1999.

Voters vote only for the board member position in which they live and the at-large position in both the Primary and General Elections.

Johnson County Community College

Johnson County Community College is served by 6 Trustees. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Trustees are elected to 4 year terms. Three trustees are elected in 1997, and 3 trustees will be elected in 1999. Voters countywide will vote for the at-large position in both the Primary and General Elections. Vote for Three or Fewer.
