No elections for the cities of Prairie Village and Westwood.

Countryside

The City of Countryside is a Third Class City. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Countryside is served by a Mayor and 5 Council Members At-Large. All are elected to 2 year terms. All are elected in 1997.

DeSoto

The City of DeSoto is a Third Class City. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). DeSoto is served by a Mayor and 5 Council Members At-Large. All are elected to 4 year terms. The Mayor and 2 Council Members At-Large are elected in 1997, and 3 Council Members At-Large will be elected in 1999.

Olathe

The City of Olathe is a First Class City with four wards. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Olathe is served by a Mayor and 6 Council Members (one from each ward plus two at-large members). The Mayor and the 4 Council Members representing wards are elected to 2 year terms. The 2 Council Members At-Large are elected to 4 year terms. The Mayor, 4 Council Members, and 1 Council Member At-Large are elected in 1997, and the Mayor, 4 Council Members, and 1 Council Member At-Large will be elected in 1999.

Overland Park

The City of Overland Park is a First Class City with five wards. A partisan election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Overland Park is served by a Mayor and 10 Council Members. All are elected to a 4 year terms. The Mayor and 5 Council Members are elected in 1997, and 5 Council Members will be elected in 1999.

Candidates are listed on the ballot along with their party affiliation.

All are elected to 4 year terms. The Mayor, 4 Council Members and the Municipal Judge are elected in 1997. Four Council Members will be elected in 1999.

The Blue Valley School District is served by 7 Board Members representing six district positions plus one member at-large position. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Board Members are elected to 4 year terms. Board Member Positions 4, 5, and 6 will be elected in 1997, and Board Member Positions 1, 2, 3, and 7 (At-Large) will be elected in 1999.

If a Primary Election is held, voters vote only for the board member position in which they live and the at-large position. In the General Election, voters vote for all positions.

Shawnee Mission School District - #512

The Shawnee Mission School District is served by 7 Board Members representing the five district area positions plus two at-large positions. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Board Members are elected to 4 year terms. Board Member Positions 2, 4, and 6 (At-Large) are elected in 1997, and Board Member Positions 1, 3, 5, and 7 (At-Large) will be elected in 1999.

Voters vote only for the board member position in which they live and the at-large position in both the Primary and General Elections.

Johnson County Community College

Johnson County Community College is served by 6 Trustees. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Trustees are elected to 4 year terms. Three trustees are elected in 1997, and 3 trustees will be elected in 1999.

Candidates file at the Election Office.
Filing and Withdrawal Deadline is January 21 at 12:00 noon.

Terms of office begin July 1.

Water District #1

Water District #1 is served by 7 Board Members. An election is held every two years (odd numbered years). Board Members are elected to 4 year terms. Three board members are elected in 1997, and 4 board members will be elected in 1999.

Voters vote on all positions in the General Election. No Primary Election.

Candidates file at the Election Office.
Filing and Withdrawal Deadline is January 21 at 12:00 noon.

Terms of office begin May 1.
