IACREOT Award
The "Student and Community Outreach Program" developed by the
Johnson County Election Office was selected as the winner of
the International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election
Officials and Treasurers (IACREOT) 1997 Money Saving Ideas Contest.
The outreach partnerships established by the Election Office resulted in a cost savings of approximately $92,600 in 1996. Examples include computer hardware and software valued at approximately $50,000, donated by Microsoft Corporation; in-kind printing of advance voting posters provided by the Kansas City Star and Shawnee Mission School District; and over 2,570 hours donated by community and student volunteers.
At the 1997 IACREOT Annual Conference and Trade Show held in Philadelphia, Karen Browning, Election Manager, accepted the award which was donated by Kim Brace of Election Data Services and Dick Smolka of Election Administration Reports.
