Digital Government Award of Excellence
The Johnson County Election Office Website has been selected as the winner of the "Digital Government Award of Excellence" for Public Sector Websites Delivery to Residents. The announcement was made July 31, 1998 by Warren Slocum, Editor and Publisher of Digital Government 2.0.
Slocum noted that "Marco Segura has done a great job on the Johnson County, Kansas website and Connie Schmidt, Election Commissioner, is to be recognized for her vision. At this top rated election site a voter can check their voter status, locate their polling place and view their sample ballot. Other valuable content is voter turnout history, applications for advance voting and lots more."
The award recognizes public sector websites for outstanding contributions in serving the public. Criteria is based on the following:
- Design - artistic manner
- Content - current, relevant and addresses real needs of citizens
- Ease of use - easy to navigate and understand
- Communications - constituent communications permitted
- Links to other sites - provides links to related sites in region
